On Rain

I know they often tell you not to personify the earth — it's not right, somehow — but on a particularly rainy day about a week ago, I felt compelled to do so anyway. This is just a rough sketch of the piece, and I'll probably go back to it later to change some things, but I think it's alright for the moment.

From the vast and murky heavens do they fall, the many solemn drops, each of them to a
different patch of earth so that they might bring to it their ancient gift, their blood of life. The
fields, their golden rows reaching upward in prayer, now seem to release a collective sigh; the days of the dryness, of torturous heat and mocking sun, of buzzing insects and creeping things which lie in hiding from the rain, are now but a faint memory. The Earth looks up, its valleys and crags mouthing a silent thanks, and receives gratefully its long-awaited communion.

Welcome to "A Telling Glance", my new blog that I hope to fill with pictures, writings, songs, videos, and other interesting things. I'll try to update it as regularly as possible. Thanks for your interest!
